Why i chose Bossypants

I chose to read the book Bossypants by Tina Fey. I chose this book because it's by one of my favorite actresses Tina Fey, who I think is absolutely hilarious. Of course I could have read many other comedians books but what really stuck out to me was the cover. I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover but I did. The cover has Tina resting her head on her arms, except they aren't her arms, they're a mans which looks completely ridiculous but also quite hilarious.

Another thing about the book that stuck out to me was the title. Bossypants, it sounds like something a little kid would say when complaining about one of their siblings. Tina, being a mother has probably heard this word bossypants many times from the mouths of her own children where is where she probably got the inspiration for the title.

Summer Reading Post (Theme)

Room
Theme: The theme of Room is that the world is a dark and scary place and humans will do whatever it takes to survive and keep the ones they love safe.

Quote: "You must feel an almost pathological need- understandably- to stand guard between your son and the world" (Donoghue 236).

Explanation: the quote explains my theme because it shows what a mother will do to take care of her child

Summary: Room is about a woman who was kidnapped and her child who are living in her kidnapper's soundproof shed in his backyard and their struggle to get free.

The article I got from the New York Times is basically just an overview of the book and explaining what it's all about. Room article
