Ned Vizzini, age 32 was an author of novels mainly with themes of anxiety and depression. Author of Be More Chill, Teen Angst? Naaah, It's Kind of a Funny Story and more. Ned has struggled with depression and anxiety practically his whole life and It's Kind of a Funny Story is pretty much the story of the ime he checked himself into the hospital due to suicidal thoughts at the age of 15.
After the publication of his book Be More Chill he recieved a contract to write two more books but fell back into a depression in the process.Last December 19th 2013 Ned took his life, jumping off the roof of the building where his parents lived, leaving behind his wife and son, along with the rest of his family.
I think it cool he made stories out of his life to help other in a way, but sad because he couldn't help himself.
ReplyDeleteThat is really sad that he killed himself. Especially when he had a family. I did like how he related his books to himself
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad. I am just sorry that he will not get to see all the help his books will hopefully provide.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that he couldn't pull through his depression/anxiety, especially since he was able to experience his success with his books. I haven't read any, but I've been thinking about reading It's Kind of a Funny Story.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the post was very sad i loved the description you used and the connections you made. Good job!
ReplyDeleteits terrible that he felt the need to kill himself in order to end his depression, and I wish he could have been saved. I think it could have been beneficial for a while to write about things that related to him, but may have also back-lashed.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that's so sad. I feel bad for anyone that feels like they need to kill themselves to solve their problems. Maybe writing books about depression and sadness made his depression last even longer.
